The Groom's Cake Is Making A Huge Comeback

By Kathleen Terrana It is said that during Victorian times the tradition was to break the wedding cake over the heads of the bride and groom. Then bakers concocted the Grooms cake for breaking and decorated elaborate wedding cakes for eating. Another tradition was that grooms cake was sliced and boxed for the unmarried girls at a wedding. They put the cake under their pillows and dreamed of their future husbands. Originally from England, the grooms cake was a dense, fruitcake usually cover with smooth fondant or marzipan icing. When people complained that they didnt care for the taste, grooms cakes were made in various flavors of rich chocolate. Some online companies still sell them this way. However, most bakers will make them in any color, shape or flavor. They can also be sliced, boxed, and tied with a satin ribbon to serve as wedding favors. Today the cake is meant to reflect the grooms interests and can include one of his hobbies, vocation, favorite sports team or alma mater. You can honor him with something humorous like a beer keg, teddy bear, sports car, cowboy boots, cigar, football or a computer. Go online to view samples, ask his friends for suggestions, and check with your baker for photos of previous work. The grooms cake can be served at the rehearsal dinner or at the wedding reception. Because the rehearsal dinner is hosted by the grooms family, and involves a smaller number of guests, this would be a good time to serve the grooms cake. However, many couples choose to serve the grooms cake right alongside the wedding cake, and after the wedding cake cutting ceremony. Other couples will choose to partake of their grooms cake after-hours with just the wedding party and close family. California Alcohol Treatment

By Ken Marlborough Drunk driving is a menace in California. It claims several lives each year. Most of the DUI incidents occurred due to high alcohol addiction or drug usage. Punishing the accused under law is not the only solution. A complete drug and alcohol treatment should be needed to spread awareness about the impact of drinking and taking drugs. Most of the addicts go for outpatient treatment instead of rehabilitation program. It is evident through statistics that longer-term residential treatment is more effective than quick clinical treatment. With proper treatment people can be set free from the chemical addiction of drug and alcohol. In longer rehabilitation treatment people help people to get sober and clean. It has the greatest influence on the people under treatment. Hopeless and despondent mood of the patient changed into healthy, hopeful, and full of freedom character after the treatment. Two sides of addiction treatment are there namely, clinical components and therapy /social development opportunity. Combination of these two sides is seen in residential treatment program only. In this treatment learning and developing is the main key. Group sessions are important to groom up these people under the guidance of expert professional. In this way they come to know each other and share their experiences and thoughts. This improves the mental status of the patient and makes them more thoughtful. There are many organizations in California for drug rehabilitation and alcohol treatment. To make the treatment program more effective there should be extensive study of costs, benefits and effectiveness of alcohol and drug treatment. In this process California Drug and Alcohol Treatment Assessment plays a vital role. It specifically assesses the effects of treatment on patient behavior, the total costs of different treatment, and the economic value of different treatment to society. Alcohol treatment and drug rehab is an extended process that involves professionals in the addiction treatment field. You should check before going for any treatment program. Are Tanning Beds Worth Your Time

By Alvin Poh There is no denying that we live in a world of convenience. Our daily lives depend on gadgets and devices such as the ubiquitous mobile phone, the trustworthy PDA, and our cars that we cannot live without. It is no wonder that the indoor tanning salon got invented. People who want to get darker are bound to look for a better way to get a nice, even tan, without the complexities, inconvenience and danger of the open sun. These days, tanning salons are full-fledged establishments with top-of-the-line tanning products and equipment. Although you are paying for something that you can technically get for free, you receive in return a more even tan in a much more shorter time-frame. Ever spend three hours in the sun just waiting for the perfect tan? Well, look forward to spending twenty minutes in a tanning saloon for even better results. Whichever salon you frequent should have experienced, trained staff that can guide and give you advice on the maximum exposure time that you should have. Look out also for what to do in case of emergencies and also check if they provide protective gear, e.g. protective eyewear. Ensure that the salons policy after a customer leaves also includes sanitizing the tanning bed surface and eyewear. Trust me when I say that you do not want to lie on a sweaty, bacteria-filled bed surface. Of course like the sun, tanning beds still emit the ultra-violet (UV) rays UV A, UV B, and UV C, so you have to watch your exposure. Many people think that just because it is a semi-artificial and human-controlled method, that it is safer and less dangerous. It is not. You still have to be careful and take care of your skin. By practicing smart tanning in moderation, people can derive the best out of a tan. To tan smart, use a good lotion, wear protective eyewear, and never let yourself burn. After your tanning session, try to apply moisturizers liberally to replace the moisture lost. Alvin Poh believes that a tan can make someone look healthier and livelier. Find out more about tanning beds or the popular Wolff Tanning Bed, and learn to tan smart! First of all, people try to borrow loans from family and friends. But some times money transaction between loved ones ends up in bad taste. Banks and credit unions are there to serve individual needs of borrowers. In order to avoid such situation, borrowing personal loans can be an ultimate solution. Personal loans are of two types- secured and unsecured personal loans. Rate of interest is always less in case of secured personal loans. Lenders will ask you to furnish some of the information like how much you need to borrow? How long you need to repay the loan? Lenders may ask you to furnish your income details also. The aim behind all this exercise is that they want to confirm that their money is refundable. If it is an unsecured loan, lenders will be more curious to know all the particulars of the lender. How To Make A Relationship Last

By CD Mohatta For a relationship to last, there are few basic requirements. The rapidity with which relationships are breaking in the modern days is a matter of concern and we should try to find out how to make a relationship that lasts for a long time. The major factors that affect the survival of a relationship are as below - Selection Of Partner - Sometimes, our selection of partner may be wrong. We may have nothing in common and our values and goals may be very different. With bad selection from the beginning, no relationship can survive for long. One of the main reasons of wrong partner selection may be hurry in selection of partner and inattention to the true nature of the selected partner. Communication - bad communication is another reason for break ups. Partners are unable to tell about true feelings to each other for many reasons including fear of conflict. Sometimes, non-verbal communication is made which fails in sending the message. Expectations - High expectations in a relationship is another reason. We expect that after we fall in to a relationship, we will become happy, satisfied and feel good at all the times. That does not happen. This creates frustration and leads to blame on the relationship. Sustaining relationships is difficult. It gives joy, but demand lot of efforts. Relationship is no solution to all our life problems. Sometimes it creates its own problems. For a relationship that lasts, we have to take care of all the aspects of the relationship. How to Create a Niche Market for Your Business

By Gabrielle Melisende Have you ever wondered how so many beauty salons, web design companies, attorneys or Mexican restaurants can exist in the same geographic area? Especially in small populated areas? Maybe the demand is high. Or, perhaps some of these businesses have set themselves apart by targeting a niche market. A niche is a special area of demand for a product or service. Not all beauty salons, for example, are created equal in price, customer service, convenient location and hours, scheduling, stylist expertise and so on. The same is literally true for all businesses; web design, marketing consultants, hardware stores, attorneys. The list goes on. Creating a niche and marketing to both your general and niche markets is a smart business and marketing strategy. You cannot expect to start a business with millions of world wide competitors (via the Internet), hundreds or thousands of regional competitors and a dozen or more local competitors, and instantly, or easily, gain a fair market share without creating a niche market. Every business has a niche. The key is identifying what that niche is. An online retailer like Amazon.com has a different niche than competitors Barnes & Noble or Borders who rely more on developing a local presence and foot traffic. A few years ago DHL came out with a brilliant commercial pitting itself against the leading overnight delivery service. DHL did not claim to be number one or lower priced. Instead they capitalized on a niche market, being number two and a reliable back up service when you, the consumer, need it most. It was a brilliant campaign. Identifying or creating a niche means digging deeper into what sets your business, product or service apart from the competition. The typical marketing question is "Why would I buy from you instead of Company X?" Your answer will likely just scratch the surface and match what many competitors could claim. This is where you dig deeper. Look at your location, hours of operation, years of experience, price point, friendly staff, response time to customer inquiries or processing orders, the quality of your product or delivery of your service, personalized attention, and so on. For example, marketing easy access to your business from a major road or highway is a niche that should drive traffic and make sales soar. If you are the only video store in your area play it up. If your video store carries a large selection of hard to find movies in VHS format and stays open until midnight, those are two more niche markets. Being a new wholesale supplier in a regional area is big news to your local city as well as the region, creating multiple niches for your business overnight. Claims of being the first, the only one or the original are unique niche selling points that no one else can (legitimately) claim. Do not wait for your industry or market to become saturated to identify and market your niche. Start now. Work both your general market as well as your niche market to develop a solid foundation for success so you can survive when competition does heat up. As your business grows or your industry changes so will your niche opportunities grow and change. Fall Tree Colors - Flowering Dogwood Cornus Florida

By Paul Wonning Cornus florida
Family - Cornaceae - Dogwood The burgundy-red leaves of the Flowering Dogwood are a perfect accent to the other fall colors found in the autumn forest. Usually accompanied by bright red berries, the leaves provide a lovely accent to the woodland mosaic of color. The leaves are oval, pointed at the top and broadest near the middle. Cornus florida is an under story tree, usually only growing to thirty or forty feet tall, the sugar maples, oaks and tulip poplars towering above it. Other trees usually keeping company with the dogwood are redbud, hawthorns, and American Beech. The range of the flowering dogwood encompasses almost the entire eastern seaboard, stopping in central Florida, extends west to eastern Texas and northeast to Indiana and Michigan. The bright red fruit is attractive to many species of birds which utilize it as a food source. Squirrels and raccoons also feed on them. The wood of flowering dogwood is close grained and hard. Tool handles can be made from it and the pioneers used it to make spinning wheel shuttles, small wheel hubs and barrel staves. The pioneers also used the bark as a quinine substitute to cure fevers. Flowering dogwood is an attractive tree during the whole year. Spring brings the white, pink, or red flower, summer attractive green foliage and fall the burgundy leaves with the bright red berries as a foil. The attractive and interesting branch structure and bark make the tree a winter ornamental also. 2006

So You're Planning On Building A Garden That Has A House In It!Part 2

By Kerrie Griffin-Moore Mulching garden beds and the surface of planted up pots regularly helps to protect the soil from high evaporation rates, keeps the plants root systems cool, it reduces weed establishment and depending on the choice of organic mulch it can help add condition to the soil. A professionally installed irrigation system designed for your planting scheme allows the water to get directly to where it is most needed, ensures healthy plant establishment and continued growth in the first few years. Watering in the early morning before the sun is up protects against loss of moisture and decreases the risk of disease from water sitting on the foliage over night. Occasional deep watering is of more benefit to your garden than light frequent watering. Potted plants need far more water and care than in ground plants, however you can often create a different microclimate in a sheltered area and grow those favourite plants you know wont prosper in the open garden.
Group plants so that the ones that have the same requirements like shade loving or those that need more watering through the summer period are grown together.
The selection of plants for any landscape situation involves careful consideration of three main aspects: -Environmental conditions
-Design factors/client requirements
-Plant requirements and attributes It is advisable to do your homework before you buy any plants, so you know your average seasonal rainfall and whether your area suffers from frost, strong winds or any other major influencing factors. Know your ph levels and soil type. One way to source some of this information, is to go for a walk in your local area and look at the plants growing well in established gardens, this is generally a good indicator.
If the opportunity arises talk to the home gardener who is usually only too happy to share their pearls of wisdom, their gardening experiences, how often they water, their successes and failures!
When selecting plants for your garden always go to a very reputable nursery, take a checklist, read all labels and check off the plants against this list, before you purchase any. Always ask for assistance from a knowledgeable staff member if you are in any doubt. -Does it suit the microclimate in the position and the space you want to put it?
-Does it suit the function or purpose you want this plant to fill?
-Check that the stock has healthy growth, is not root bound and is disease free?
-If you are patient you can afford to buy smaller size plants. However, if you want an instant effect buy more mature specimens.
-Is it labelled drought tolerant?
-Is it labelled summer dormant?
-Does it have grey or silver foliage?
-Does it flower in winter?
-Does it have thick or leathery foliage?
-Is it native to your climatic region?
-Is it frost tolerant? For many areas this a major consideration
-If you live near the seaside, is it tolerant of salt-laden winds?
-Check that you are not introducing a very invasive plant or pest plant into your garden
-Buy for year round interest in foliage colour, scent, texture and form Winter and Summer are great planning seasons, ready for creating in Autumn and Spring. In Autumn the earth is still warm giving the plants time to start establishing themselves with the rains before the very cold weather of Winter sets in, and in Spring giving the plants time to settle in before the heat of Summer really hits.
A word of warning when accepting free plants for friends and neighbours: check for weeds in the root ball or pot. My free plants have cost me dearly in the past, both in terms of time and money as I tried to eradicate an introduced weed! My priorities are client relationships, communication, fulfilling the clients personal aesthetic and functional requirements, creating a sanctuary for them to enjoy, a garden setting that is an expression of them, that is value adding, enhances, supports and complements their lifestyle and the architecture of their home.

The Sundial - Garden Ornament or Exotic Timepiece?

By Graham McClung Most of us regard a sundial as an attractive ornament for
a park or garden. Their effectiveness as time keepers is
highly variable That's unfortunate, because it is not at all difficult
to ensure that your garden sundial will be an accurate
timepiece, provided, of course that the sun is shining. But that will be covered in another article. For now,
let's see what a sundial is, and what it is capable of. Sundial History We forget in this modern age that accurate, affordable
watches and clocks have been around for much less than
200 years. Before then, sundials were one of the few ways to tell
the time with reasonable accuracy. Shadow clocks dated at 1500BC are known from Egypt, but
the first dials appear to have been Babylonian. The
Greeks adapted the idea, the Romans developed it further,
and by about 100BC had perfected the horizontal sundial
(and placed it in their gardens). Even in ancient days some people had schedules to keep,
and both agriculture and religion required knowledge of the
seasons and the movement of the sun to determine planting and
the timing of ceremonies. The sundial was an important means of providing that
information, and considerable advances in mathematics,
geometry and astronomy were made while it was
perfected. The knowledge gained forms part of the
foundations of modern science. Types of Sundial There are four reasonably common types of sundial. They all have two things in common. Each consists of a
raised structure, called the gnomon (silent "g")
which casts a shadow onto a plate called the dial.
The dial is divided into hourly or shorter time divisions
and may also show other information. The part of the gnomon
whose shadow indicates the time on the dial is called
the style. The most abundant form is the horizontal sundial,
happily sitting on its pedestal or column and adding beauty
and interest to the home garden. Related is the equatorial sundial, with its dial
oriented at the same angle as the latitude. It works slightly
differently, and is easier to use when properly calibrated. Thirdly, there is the vertical sundial, ideally located
on a wall facing due south in the northern hemisphere, and
north in the southern hemisphere. The principle is much the
same, but the sundial only occupies a semicircular area.
Vertical sundials displayed the time to the public, and were
used to correct unreliable public clocks. And the most elegant of all, the portable sundial.
George Washington had one - at that time pocket watches were
most unreliable. Modern examples can be a work of art.
They combine a compass with an adjustable dial. The dial is
tilted to correspond to local latitude, and the compass
defines north. Pretty neat! Sundial Accuracy A properly designed and installed sundial can be a very
accurate means of telling the time, down to intervals of
less than a minute. I won't go into the mathematics, but on a sundial 16 inches
(40cm) in diameter, the shadow of the gnomon will move about
1/30th of an inch, or just under 1mm, in a minute. This may
be small, it's enough for our eyes to see. Two Major Problems Apart from the frequent absence of sunlight (Problem 1),
all sundials show time by calibrating outwards from the
position of the sun at noon. If you live east or west
of me, your noon is different to mine. Although the earth moves around the sun, we see it the other
way. The sun appears to move from east to west across the
sky, and local noon is when it's vertically overhead.
But if you live 100 miles west of me, my noon is still your
late morning, and your noon is my early afternoon. This
would be inconvenient if we used our sundials to arrange a
lunch date, but a real problem if I had a plane to catch in
another city. Solar Time and Official Time People managed to live with this problem until communications
and transport became faster. Imagine calculating train
timetables when Boston, New York and Buffalo all worked
on different local times. The answer was the development of local time zones.
US Railways did this in 1883, but in 1914 the world's
governments agreed to divide the globe into 24 zones,
each 15 degrees of longitude in width, and each one
hour different in time to its neighbours. Boundaries
were altered slightly to account for state and national
borders. There are four time zones in the contiguous 48 states of the
USA: Eastern, centred on 75 degrees W longitude; Central, on
90 degrees; Mountain, on 105 degrees; and Pacific, on 120
degrees. Noon was identified astronomically for each of these
meridians (now it's done by atomic clocks), and accepted
everywhere else in the zone. Noon on sundials in places very close to these longitudes
will correspond to official noon. For every degree east
or west of the central meridian, for 7.5 degrees either
side, you will need to add or subtract four minutes
respectively to correct your sundial. A few other adjustments are necessary to compensate
for irregularities in the earth's path around the sun -
not too difficult to make but the theory is beyond this
article. They add to the inconvenience, and that's why sundials have
been superceded by more convenient and reliable forms of
time keeping. But problems with time zones and orbital paths
can be corrected, and there's no reason why you can't find
the correct time from your sundial. No reason, that is, provided it has been properly installed in
your garden. And that's the subject of another article. Copyright 2005, Graham McClung. A retired geologist, Graham

Secrets of Successful Weight Loss

By Meri Raffetto Weight lossif we could just find the right diet we would achieve our goals, right? The sad truth is that weight loss diets, for the most part, dont work and are becoming a thing of the past. Research shows that 85-95% of dieters regain any weight theyve lost within 3-5 years. Most diets simply dictate what to eat and how much, and usually dont teach us to make better food choices once we go off. When we go back to our old habits the weight comes back and we end up in a constant battle to get the weight down again. When you quit diets and instead change to eating nutrient rich foods and enjoy fun foods in moderation, weight loss can be the natural result. Other well-known benefits include increased energy, vitality and freedom from disease. Additionally, if you stay active and eat in moderation you dont have to give up the foods you enjoy. Yes, that means you can enjoy cake, cookies, and other treats and still lose weight when you learn how to balance them appropriately in your diet. So the BIG question is: Why dont more of us choose a health-promoting lifestyle vs. the diet djour in our world today? Part of the reason is that we are conditioned in the diet mentality that the answer lies in a secret formula that will only work if we follow it rigidly. Lets face it, we like the bells and whistles. Instead of following another weight loss diet we should pay attention to those people who have lost weight and kept it off. What did they do? People who have successfully achieved their ideal weight and better health without dieting report the following success strategies: They made a commitment to changing habits long-term vs. just losing weight

They became educated about sound nutrition principles

They learned to cope with emotions and stress without food

They consciously eat when their hungry and stop when their full

They shift the focus from looking good to honoring their health and well-being

They learn to adjust portions or food intake to match activity level

They dont sabotage themselves, when they blow it

They seek ongoing support as needed to stay motivated Making positive change is possible with the right commitment, education, and support. Rather than spending precious energy and time going on a diet, make a different choice. Choose high-level health so you can lose weight once and keep it off for a lifetime. 2005, Meri Raffetto Owner of Real Living Nutrition Services, Meri Raffetto is a recognized professional in the area of nutrition and wellness. Butterfly House in the Flower Garden

By Sandra Wilson Whenever you decide to look for a butterfly house for your flower garden, you first have to determine what it is you actually want. A search for butterfly houses will yield two different types. There is the type of butterfly house that contains butterflies and their nectar plants. These type of butterfly houses are actually structures created for the specific reason of providing a safe and enclosed space in which to study the butterflies. It can vary from a playpen-size for individual study to a medium-sized net-drapped area to large green house-like structure for scientists' study. We even have large enclosures open for public viewing, education and delight. If you find this a delightful prospect to walk in a large "cage" with hundreds of butterflies surrounding you, consult your local museums and zoos for information. This being the information age, check online too. As part of your children's, or your own, education, you may wish to raise some butterflies from caterpillar in a small butterfly house. Live butterfly kits are readily available and come with all you need to raise the caterpillar to a butterfly, usually a Painted Lady. Of course you may be able to collect the eggs from your own garden and raise them in your own home for your education and enjoyment. Please find a proper resource to guide you in this prospect if you should choose to do so. You may also wish to create your own butterfly house of this type in your own flower garden. This can be done by means of mosquito netting drapped over an easily portable structure such as a light weight greenhouse structure or some type of tall stakes. Just surround whatever flowers are providing the nectar source at the present time. Don't forget the small puddles as water sources for the butterflies, too. The second type of butterfly house is actually a hibernation box. It is usually a tall, 6 inch diameter box mounted on a post which is then set into your garden. The front of the box has half inch slots through which the butterflies can enter the house. The front also swings open to allow you to place some twigs or, preferably, some rough bark within the house. This allows the butterflies a good gripping surface. Place the box near some host plants for the type of butterflies in your area. This will provide incentive for the butterflies to lay eggs on the host plants in your flower garden in the spring. The top of the butterfly house may be opened so you may observe the hibernating butterflies and record the numbers and types of your hibernating guests. If you are very lucky, on a warm winter's day, one of your guest may actually step out of the butterfly house. If this occurs, sugar water or home-grown flowers may keep it occupied until the day starts to cool. At which time, the butterfly will make its way back into the butterfly house in your flower garden. 2005, Sandra Dinkins-Wilson Find more butterfly garden articles and gardening tips for Flower Garden Lovers at our informative website. Pre-paid SIM Card Lithuania

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=John_Dulaney]John Dulaney Lithuania is officially known as the Republic of Lithuania and it is country in northern Europe. It is also the largest of the three Baltic State situated on the coast of the Baltic Sea. Latvia is to the north of Lithuania, Belarus is to its southeast, Poland and the Russian exclave Kaliningrad Oblast is towards the southwest. Lithuania, the largest and most populous of the Baltic States has 99 Kilometers of coastline. Its major port is Klaipeda and Main River is the Neman. The Lithuanian landscape is covered with glaciers. Aukstojas Hill at 964 feet from the sea level is more famous. There are also a number of lakes including the Vistytis. The climate is midway between maritime and continental. A member of the European Union since May 1, 2004, the origin of Lithuania dates back to 1009. However, the unification took place in 1236 and people all around the world started referring it as the State of Lithuania. Mindaugas, who was instrumental in the unification, was coroneted officially as the King of this state in 1253. During the first part of the 14th century A.D, Lithuania had occupied Belarus, Ukrine, parts of Poland and Russia. By the end of the 14th century it had become the largest country in Europe having the area from Baltic to Black Sea. Subsequently the Grand Duke Jogaila was crowned the King of Poland and Lithuania and Poland joined in a union. The formal union was however, dissolved in 1401. Again in 1569, Poland and Lithuania got united to form Polish Lithuanian Commonwealth. Lithuania maintained its sovereignty. However, this joint state was dissolved in 1795 with the partition of the Commonwealth. Around 90% territories of Lithuania were annexed in Russian empire and the remaining portion was annexed in Prussia. Lithuania re-established its independence on February 16th, 1918. Later the Parliament opted for a republican form of Government, replacing the existing monarchy. But the country was plagued by territorial disputes with Germany and Poland. During 1940, at the beginning of World War II, Soviet Union occupied and annexed Lithuania in accordance with Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact. Later it came under German occupation and around the year 1900, and the Lithuanian Jews were killed during that period. After the defeat of Germany in the World War II, Soviet Union reoccupied Lithuania in 1944. During the soviet occupation around 780,000 people were killed in Siberia from 1944 to 1954. Led by Sajudis, Lithuania claimed its independence once again on March 11, 1990. Russian attempts to suppress the rebellion failed and the last soviet soldier left Lithuania on August 31, 1993. On February 4, 1991, Iceland was the first country to recognise Lithuania as an independent country. Sweden was the first country to open an Embassy in Lithuania. On 31st May, 2001, Lithuania joined the United Nations on 17th September, 1991 and became its 141st member. It was the first Baltic state that applied for NATO membership in 1994 and became a full fledged NATO member on March 29, 2004. Later, on May 1, 2004, it also became a member of the European Union. Valdas Adamkus is the current President of Lithuania. Since independence in 1990, Lithuania continues to be a democracy. Its first general election was held on October 25th, 1992. The constitutional pattern is a semi-presidential system. The President, who is the head of the state, is elected for a term of five years. He appoints the Prime Minister with the approval of the Parliamentary body called the Seimas and on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, nominates other members of the cabinet, civil servants, and judges. Judges of constitutional bench serve for nine years. Nine judges are appointed, three each by the President, Chairman of the Seimas, and the Chairman of the Supreme Court. Lithuanian Parliament is composed of one legislative body and has 141 members elected for a 4 year term, and 71 of them are elected on vote in single constituency and the remaining 70 by nationwide voting. Unless a party receives at least 5% of the national votes, it can not be represented in the Seimas. Administratively, Lithuania is divided in to 10 counties and 60 Municipalities. The 60 Municipalities are further subdivided into 500 elderates. The counties have county governors appointed by the central government. Their domain is national law, program, and policies. Municipalities are either district or city municipalities. Elderates are the smallest unit and provide necessary services to the people close to their homes. They are most active in social sector. Lithuania can be divided into the Aukstaitija or highlands, Samogitia or low lnds, Dzukija, Sudovia, and Lithuania Minor. Before joining the European Union in 2003, Lithuania had the highest economic growth rate at 8.8% per annum. To day it is a member of the World Trade Organisation and the European Union. It has a well developed railways system, airports and four land highways. It has almost full employment since the unemployment rate is only 2.9%. Presently, Litas is the national currency of Lithuania but it is supposed to switch over to Euro by 2009. It has a flat tax rate and the rate of income tax is low at only 24%. The great yard of Vilnius University, and the oldest wooden church at Paluse are places to be visited. Lithuanian language is spoken by 83.5% of the people. There are 6.7% Poles, 6.3% Russians and 1.2% Belarusian in Lithuania. Most Lithuanians can communicate in Russian since they were subjected to long soviet domination. While English is taken as the first foreign language for study, students may opt for Russian, German and Polish languages too. Lithuania has strong Catholic traditions. Around 79% Lithuanians are Roman Catholics. Protestants at 1.9% are clear minorities in Lithuania, while 4.9% of the population belongs to Eastern Orthodoxy. Judaism, Islam and Karaism constitute around 1.6% of the population. Largest cities of Lithuania are Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Siauliai, Panevezys, Alytus, Marjampole, Mazeikiai, Jonova, and Utena. These are the days of mobile telephony. A person at a distance is easily reachable from anywhere in the world, without the trouble of running to a telephone booth.. Today, cell phones are a real necessity and no more an item of luxury. You may, therefore, like to take your cell phone to Lithuania when you travel to that country. But simultaneously, you would also be concerned about the expenses involved, which may be quite high, especially when you call internationally to get in touch with your business associates, friends and your family back home. Let us illustrate our point with a couple of examples. Think of those days when cell phone was yet to arrive on the scene and people for communication was dependent on the old land phone and the nearest to the mobile telephony was the cordless phone that could allow you a mobility of a couple of hundreds of meters and no more. People on travel or tour were fairly dependent on the telephone service provided by the hotel. The charges involving both STD and ISD were comparatively higher and there was the service charges claimed in addition by the hotel. More-over, people wanting to get in touch with you just could not, when you were not available in your hotel. They had no other option but to leave a message at the hotel reception. Cell phones brought in the conveniences that we appreciate. However, here too there is one clich. If you have gone on travel abroad, say to Lithuania, and using your cell phone, it will be on the roaming mode. Both incoming calls and outgoing calls will be quite expensive in the system making you uncomfortable. This is no less expensive a proposition compared to the time when you had no other option but to use the telephone in your hotel room. A Lithuanian prepaid SIM card, together with an unlocked GSM cell phone could be the real solution to your problem. Such a phone will not only allow you to have a local Lithuanian cell phone number but also charge your calls at local rates. All your incoming calls are free irrespective of its source of origin. Therefore, for your next trip to Lithuania, make sure to buy a prepaid SIM card for Lithuania. You do not have to sign a contract and you do not receive any bill at the end of the month. When you buy a prepaid SIM card for Lithuania, a small talk time credit is provided along with it. You can renew and replenish the same with recharge vouchers and coupons available in the local stores anywhere in Lithuania. Such cards are available in various denominations so as to allow you purchase one according to your requirements and budget. A SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card is a printed circuit board, a little smaller than a postage stamp. The module goes into a slot at the back of your cell phone as you take off the back cover. The SIM card is the module which renders your cell phone intelligent, and enables you to make and receive calls and send SMS messages to your friends, associates and family back home. It has a microprocessor circuitry with memories and holds your unique information, such as, identifying you as a cell phone service subscriber. It holds your subscription information, your SIM card number, the International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) of your mobile phone and other security details. As you switch on your cell phone, the information is transmitted to the local network of the city that you are visiting abroad. This is then matched with the database information of the Foreign Service provider and matched. If the information matches, your cell phone is logged in the network and you are now ready to use your cell phone to make and receive calls. The SIM card also holds your address book, where you can store the names and telephone numbers of the people you often get in touch with. All your incoming and outgoing call numbers are logged in the memory of the SIM card, which are displayed to you along with the respective time and date of the calls.
For more information and prices of a pre-paid SIM card for Lithuania, visit www.planetomni.com/FAQ_sim.shtml You would require a GSM cell phone when you visit Lithuania. If you have a GSM phone, it is very likely that it will not operate in that country, unless you have a multi-frequency cell phone with you. The networks in Lithuania operate on 900MHz and 1800MHz GSM frequency bands, where-as, networks in North America, Canada and a few countries in the Americas operate on 850MHz and 1900 MHz GSM frequency bands. Therefore, with the mismatch of your cell phone frequency bands with that of the networks in Lithuania, your GSM phone will not work in that country. . The world over, use different GSM frequency bands compared to the ones used in North America, Canada and few of the neighbouring countries, and in effect this what sets a part these countries from the rest of the world. In order to facilitate the use of cell phones universally, there are three types of such phones available in the world market. The Quad-band phone complies with all GSM bandwidths and would work in any of the GSM country in the world. The Tri-band is compatible with 800MHz, 900MHz and 1800MHz frequency bands, and operates in most part of the GSM region, while the Dual-band responds to 800MHz and 1900MHz GSM frequency bands. If you are a frequent traveller, you may consider buying a compatible cell phone which would work in the countries that you visit. If you are not so frequent a traveller, it is economical for you to rent a phone which will match the frequency bands with the networks of the country that you are visiting. For more information on buying or renting a phone, you may visit www.planetomni.com/FAQ_gsm.shtml for more details. GSM stands for the Global System for Mobile Communication. This new digital technology that was initiated in Europe as the second generation or 2G system was devised as a replacement to the old day 1G analog system. Today, as many as 214 countries have adopted the technology and under it they cover around 80% of the mobile customers in the world. It may not be out of place to mention here that bandwidth frequency would be varying with the variation in global GSM regions. Geographical divergences will cause divergence of bandwidth frequency. But the GSM facility even at the worst allows roaming facilities that cater to the problem to some extent, though it is a costly proposition. While traveling to Lithuania or for that matter to any foreign country with your cell phone, just do not forget to make it SIM unlocked. If you buy or rent one also you must see that the cell phone you are procuring is SIM unlocked. Otherwise you may not be able to use the phone for the purpose you have bought it. The accepted pattern is that you enter into a contract with your service provider when you purchase a new cell phone. You become bound to use the services of your provider for a specific period. The cell phone comes to you free of cost and becomes yours at the end of the contract period. During that period your phone remains SIM locked and you cannot use your phone with any other SIM card except the one that you have received from your service provider. However, on termination of the contract the provider makes your phone SIM unlocked and you are now free to obtain any SIM card for your phone For proper use of your cell phone at Lithuania, it must be compatible with the bandwidth frequency there and it must be SIM unlocked. A pre-paid SIM card for Lithuania is affordable and it saves substantially on your phone bills. All your incoming calls are free and you do not pay any roaming charges. Since you pre-pay for your calls, you are in complete control of your expenses. You do not sign any contract and you do not receive any bill at the end of the month. Cell phone use overseas.
In 99% of the world the local cellular service standard is called GSM. We use this in the states as well. When combined with a SIM CARD (which usually goes under the battery of the phone) the phone is able to communicate and the SIM CARD also holds the telephone number and memory for pre-paid credit. Rates can be extremely low using this system. For example in 99% of all SIM CARDS incoming calls are free and calls to the states can cost a trifle. Such as, from the UK to the USA 7 cents/minute, from Israel 22 cents, from Australia 27 cents. Yes, USA Dollar cents! There are today even prepaid service providers in the USA offering rates of 10 cents per minute to call anywhere in the US to any type of phone. No contracts, no credit card checks, no bills. Pre-paid always means no minimums no contracts, no obligations. You only pay for the calls made. You'll need an unlocked GSM tri-band or quadband UNLOCKED phone. You can buy factory unlocked phones and sim cards for more than 170 of the 193 countries on earth from http://www.planetomni.com Tel. # 800-514-2984 Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=John_Dulaney http://EzineArticles.com/?Pre-paid-SIM-Card-Lithuania&id=394946 phentermine online

Sacred Love - Building a Relationship on the Higher Ground of Dreams and Love

By Christopher Walker Every year I take small groups of people to these sacred lakes. They go to find a deeper essence of life, to renew their individual commitment to authenticity. People sit by those lakes and dream, and there is no ego involved. Ego falls off on the way up. These lakes are a place where, legend has it, the power of prayers are multiplied by thousands upon thousands, a place where dreams that are dreamed, come true. And for me that has always been the case. Now, here in this chapter I am going to share what I know about a vision quest you and your lover can do together. But before I do, I am going to share some donts. 1. Dont be afraid. There is a wisdom far greater than the one you know as your mind. Let the dreams come, let them fly on the wings of love, and let them sit. Allow them a home, a resting place, because those dreams have been waiting for you to arrive. Let them find you, that is enough. 2. Hold those dreams sacred, share them with your beloved. Allow no soul to condemn, question, advise, interfere, compromise or criticise them. Prevent yourself from judging, or having the mindset to ask how, or why. Those two words kill the spirit of a dream. 3. Practice dreaming without action. I would like to share an example. You have a mother, look up from where you are seated now, and see around you one thing that reminds you of her. Then come back to this page and read on. Did you think, What should I find? Did you ask, What sort of object? Did you immediately find something, but it didnt seem right so you rejected it? This is the ego. That is why vision quests need to be learned. Eventually you will learn to hold your mind empty and allow your intuition to make choices without good reason. 4. Dont dream about how you want to feel, who you want to become, how you want to change yourself. All this comes from judgment, and that judgment is from your mind. Dream only of doing. What would I love to do? This is the only area where spirit can guide you. Who you are, and who you become is irrelevant to a vision quest. Only your ego cares about that. 5. Always ask. Dont force the answer. Dont judge the result. Be thankful for the opportunity you have to hear. Avoid wanting anything. Ambivalence is the state of mind in which inspiration will come to you. Just be open. 6. Remove all your hopes. Most blockage in visioning comes from wanting. Wanting to be peaceful, wanting to be loving, wanting to be nice, wanting to be spiritual. Wanting is blockage. True visioning means, Whatever it takes, I will follow the guidance I get. 7. Dont be bluffed by others. These days, self-help language is freely available, gurus abound, spiritual teachers are many, bookshops are filled with anything from how to hurt people (turn your boyfriend into a frog), to how to call down an angel. It is hard to know people now, because we have so much language. People can talk the talk, but can they walk the walk? Walk the talk. If you want to really know a person, see what they do, and how they do it. All else, is myth. Chris Walker is a world leading change agent, an environmentalist and author of more than 20 books. Born and bred in Australia, he consults to people and organisations throughout the world on improved relationships, health and lifestyle through the application of the Universal laws of Nature. New Product Launch - Questions To Ask Before Going Live: Part 1

By J Garces Jr Do you have a great idea for a product? Are you thinking of launching a new product or service in the market place? Below is the first part of 12 questions you definitely want to answer and prepare for before you "go live". 1) Who is the target market? You'd be surprised how many folks create a product before targeting a specific market. Targeting a market is the first step. If you do it the other way around, you just might find that a market for your product or service may not even exist. 2) What is the product/service? Define it. Does it fall under a category? Is it a single product or a multiple line of products? A single product can be "one size fits all" if practical. WD-40 is a perfect example of a single product with multiple uses. When the WD-40 company first started out, they only had that one product. Today, they have multiple brands. You can also create different flavors of your product. Think of shampoo. There's one for every hair type. The benefit of having a multiple product line, of course, is that you can expand your market reach. 3) Does it satisfy a market need? Does your product or service actually solve a problem? If you did your market research correctly, then it should at least solve a problem to a certain degree. If the problem may continue to exist after your product launch, and the need is urgent, you might consider releasing your product as a temporary solution. However, you should continue to refine it until it completely solves the problem. 4) Will your product or service maintain market appeal? "Here today. Gone tomorrow." So goes the saying. Think for the long term when it comes to your product. You'll ultimately reap huge rewards while other products around you fade away. 5) Is your product or service useful? No, really. Is it? Don't get beside yourself when answering this question. There are many products out there that folks can't justify spending one dime for. Other folks, for some reason, see those same products and they just have to have it. Either way, useful products and services are the ones that last. 6) How much competition exists? You do not want to join a flooded market, but there might be a reason why NOBODY is pushing a product or service like yours. ***In part 2, I give you six more questions you should ask yourself before going live with your product launch. Recognizing Unhealthy Relationships

By Meilena Hauslendale One of the keys to obtaining a better life or living arrangement is to assess the quality of relationships that you surround yourself with. Do you surround yourself with loving relationships or unhealthy relationships? For someone that has a pattern or history with unhealthy relationships, the difference between the two may be difficult to decipher. Healthy relationships are relationships that add to our well being, not subtract. They bring out the best of us by being supportive of our goals and our inner selves. Unhealthy relationships often cause us stress and subtract from our well being, often leaving us feeling depleted of energy. Common symptoms of unhealthy relationships include sickness, stress, and a negative outlook of ourselves and our world around us. People who are accustomed to unhealthy relationships often stay cornered in situations like this because they do not recognize that there is another way of living. They might continue the unhealthy relationship indefinitely and never seek a better way of life for themselves or they may leave the unhealthy relationship, but not the pattern. The life pattern is essentially the root of the problem. The pattern may have stemmed from family upbringing or any other form of influential relationship. The key is to recognize the behavior and identify where it is coming from. A creative way to assess your patterns is to write it down. Take out a notebook that you know you will keep for years to come. Write down all the major relationships that you have had in your life. Your earliest form of relationship more than likely was a family member or someone acting in this form. Note how they showed you love. Then note how you reciprocated that love. Continue in a chronological order with any additional relationships you have had, i.e. friends, personal and love relationships. Next make a column on your right hand side. Re-read your assessments in order, as you read through them determine whether they were healthy or unhealthy and mark it down in your right hand column. Having an overview of your relationships right before your eyes makes it easier to look at. You may actually bring issues to attention that you were not aware of before. For some this may even be a rather emotional exercise, but be reminded it is an exercise encouraging growth and healthy behavior. Whatever your circumstance take time to assess your own involvements and choices with relationships. Do you always pick a controlling relationship? Or do you always pick a relationship where you are the enabler? Are you respecting your own boundaries while you are in a relationship or are they being sacrificed? Are you always compromising your time and energy to please another? Or are you always compromising your morals or beliefs? Are you maintaining a balance with yourself and other activities? Or are you focusing so much on the other person that you are not taking care of other obligations and priorities? All of these questions will help you identify the quality of choices you are making when you are choosing relationships. Once you identify your pattern, you can no longer deny an unhealthy relationship. Awareness will make your own behavior and the unhealthy relationship even more difficult to tolerate. Once you identify your patterns and bring it fourth into awareness, the next process is change. Granted the other party involved will not always agree or like the change that you are going to make, but you have to take action for yourself. In the long run you both will suffer if even one of you is unhappy. How can we avoid unhealthy relationships? By learning to love and care for ourselves regardless of whether or not someone is in our lives. Once we identify our own needs we can easily work with others feelings without interfering with our own. When we establish a relationship with ourselves, we no longer have to have needy relationships. Instead we can re-teach ourselves to have giving relationships. Follow your intuition. If something doesnt feel right to you with a relationship then pay attention to those feelings. They are there for a reason. Some people can grow together inside their relationships and some may have to grow apart. The key is to look at ourselves and our relationships in their truest light. Know that each one of us is entitled to have a loving relationship or friendship. We are worthy of receiving love just as we are worthy of giving it. True partnership fills our cups with abundance, joy, and solidarity, a gift that multiplies within our hearts and our families. Dating After 40: The Scent of Love

By R.L. Morgan A friend of mine is convinced that smell has a lot to do with dating attraction. He believes people exude a human pheromone of sorts, functioning as an attractant of the opposite sex. But since pheromone receptors have not yet been found in humans, what scent does attract us? Some women believe perfume is an attractant, so they slather themselves with it. They dont realize that most men abhor being with a woman who reeks, no matter how expensive the perfume. (Men can go overboard with cologne as well.) In the 1992 film Scent of a Woman Al Pacinos blind character is drawn to the woman he wants to tango with by her smell. This was so powerful, it became the title of the movie. Ive always thought a whiff of a subtle fragrance was appealing. The idea is to emit an alluring aroma that entices my date to get nearer. Once at the end of a first date, my dining companion and I hugged goodbye. When we disengaged, I noticed his eyes were closed and he took a deep whiff. I love how you smell, he whispered. Ive wondered what scents that would be irresistible wafting toward my dates nose. My ex loved vanilla, so Id raid the kitchen cabinet and dab a bit behind my ears when I wanted to drive him crazy. Now Ive come upon a different universally drool-inducing smell that gets most everyones attention. But I cant find it in toilet water form. What is it? Fresh-baked chocolate chip cookies. When you pass a Mrs. Fields store, doesnt the smell which is purposefully fanned into the corridors beckon you, just as the Sirens to Odysseus? Dont you want to stop and buy, or at the minimum, just enjoy the smell? Most people do. So why doesnt someone package that smell? It would ensure youd be followed by men and probably some women like a fish monger is trailed by cats. Then you wouldnt have to worry about going to singles bars, speed dating, or online dating sites. Youd have a parade of men following you and you could merely pick and choose from among the masses. Of course, you may have trouble shaking the ones you reject. You dont want to encourage stalkers just because your scent is irresistible. Maybe you could carry a skunk scent aerosol can to spray behind the man/men youve chosen, to separate them from the riff raff. So, Ill let you know when Ive developed eau de chocolate chip cookie. Im sure youll want to buy it by the gallon. (Epilogue: I was at a conference a few days after I posted this and discussed this concept with a male flirt buddy. He said hed definitely be driven crazy by eau de chocolate chip cookie. Serendipitously, a few minutes later the afternoon break refreshments arrived chocolate chip cookies. I took one over to him and rubbed it clearly on my neck. He took the bait and started nibbling away on my neck, not the cookie!) R.L. Dieting Doesn't Work - Why Is It So Hard To Lose Weight?

By Piti Niyomsirivanich 90-95% of people who lose weight with diet gain most of the weight back within 3 to 5 years. Often times more body fat, or weight is gained back due to yo-yo dieting. Diet isn't the only thing study subjects did to lose weight. Most studies included exercise regimens. So any weight loss could have been due to exercise and not to diet. Many people in diet studies lost weight, gained it back, and went back on a diet before the end of the study. Such patients would be counted as having long-term weight loss when they simply lost weight only for a short period of time. Why don't diets work? There are two issues. The first is that it's just plain hard for people to change their eating behaviors. Lifestyle change will work if you have realistic expectations, good support, and choose a plan that you can stick with -- a plan that will give you moderate change over a long time. And the second reason is that even if you do succeed at a diet, the rule of diminishing returns comes into play. Rule of Diminishing Fat Storage Is a Natural Survival Mechanism. The body's ability to efficiently store fat began as a survival mechanism when our human ancestors were hunter-gatherers. Human beings lived in an environment that had no quick and easy sources of food. Early humans needed some kind of physical means to store energy. When our ancestor couldn't find food and went for long periods of time without food ,their bodies acted like a life preserver, storing fat in anticipation of the inevitable periods of famine. So when you ry to "diet" by going for long periods of time without eating , your brain senses the starvation and sends an SOS signal through your body to store fat because famine is on its way. That's why people who go on fasts and extremely low-calories diets don't lose the expected weight. Their protective mechanism preserve your body fat. The body developed this ability to slow down the metabolism and store extra fat during periods of famine. If we didn't have this ability,we would not have survived the lean times. When you keep to a reduced-calorie diet, your body makes metabolic adjustments that make it harder and harder for you to lose weight,Your body becomes very efficient, and you have to eat less and less to continue to lose weight. If you had the will to go on a diet, the fact that it steadily becomes less and less effective makes it even harder to stick to it. A lot of people go on a low-calorie diet for a few weeks and expect to lose a lot of weight. But if you do a crash diet, you will only regain the weight. Why is it so hard to lose weight? Diet is affected by social issues, by what you do when you are with your family and your friends. In the current American setting, which really encourages unhealthy eating and dietary patterns, it is difficult to keep these lifestyle changes going. People who want to achieve and maintain a healthy weight should start working at lifestyle changes they can maintain -- even if it means not losing weight, but just staying at the same weight. Conclusion. People should try to eat healthy food in moderation and exercise periods. Piti Niyomsirivanich ,M.D. , B.Sc.

Irresistible Event Registrations: How to Overcome Objections About Opportunity Costs

By Bill Flagg The strategy for overcoming this objection is to show your registrants how little time it will take them relative to the amount of benefit they will derive from attending. Return on Time Spell out for your prospects how they will save hundreds of hours of time because of what they will learn at your event. You can help them do the math; show them that the time they invest with you will translate into weeks of time savings for them in their current jobs. Show them how you will give them the tools to work smarter, not harder. More Times and Locations If you offer multiple dates and locations, your prospects will feel it's easier to get to your event and to schedule the time. This is why regional events can end up being more popular overall than an annual conference or expo. For your regional events communicate that attendees get educational benefits of a national event with the convenience of it being in their backyards. More Learning Options You can also make it more convenient for your prospects to learn by offering other options such as online events, videos, CD's, and books. If they don't have the time to attend, they may find it easier to purchase one of these options from you. I sincerely hope this article makes your conference and event registration even more successful! Bill Flagg is the President of RegOnline

Pre-paid SIM Card for Finland

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=John_Dulaney]John Dulaney The Finn first migrated to what now is Finland during the first millennium B.C., and the first inhabitants in the country were the Sami, the Lapp people who were driven to far north into the Arctic regions, where they are now traditionally resident. Alexander I of Russia conquered Finland in the year 1809 and during 1809 to 1914, ended the Finn political power and Russian became the official language of Finland. Finland declared independence on December 6, 1917 after Russia was engulfed by the March Revolution in the year 1917. Finland was attacked by USSR in November, 1939, since Finland refused to give in to USSR's territorial demands. The Finns were forced to cede about 16,000 square miles to USSR, after putting up a brave defense for three long months. Finland joined the Nazis under pressure from the Germans in the year 1941 and they lost the war against the Russians and ceded the Petsamo area to the USSR. A friendship and mutual assistance was signed by Finland and USSR in the year 1948. Finland continued to support their foreign policy of non-alignment throughout the cold-war era. The culture in Finland has always been influenced by the Sweden and Russia. Though Finland has been influenced highly by the western culture, being part of Sweden long time back, none-the-less it has been a meeting point between the west and the east and has received the influences from both sides. Finland likes to retain an individual identity in their culture, which was born into the Finns from the 19th century. This culminated in the famous words, "we are not Swedes, and we do not wish to become Russian, so let us be Finns". Finland has risen from relative poverty, which it was in during the early 20th century to the present day modern prosperous democracy. Equality is maintained in the culture of the Finns and any attempt to distinguish oneself to be better than the others, is viewed with hostility. Finns possess a greater stamina, will power and tenacity and face adverse situations in that manner. Helsinki is the capital and the largest city of Finland. It lies on the the shore of the Gulf of Finland and located in the southern part of Finland. It has a population of 562,570, as per the census held in the year 2006 and contains the neighbouring cities of Espoo, Vantaa and Kauniainen and together they form the capital region of Finland. Statistics show that Helsinki is one of the fastest growing city in the European Union and within the last decade it is estimated that 100,000 inhabitants have moved into greater Helsinki and the government statistics reveal that over 1.3 million people will be living within the region. The city of Helsinki came into existence after Finland gained independence from Russia in 1917. The new Finland boomed during 1920's and 1930's, when modernisation and functionalism set in, fathered by one of the renowned and internationally acclaimed architect Alvar Aalto. The Olympic stadium, which was completed in 1938, brought Helsinki on to the world stage, though the games were postponed due to the war and were finally held there in 1952. The city still holds the record as being the smallest city in the world to host Olympic Games. Pohjoisesplanadi, Aleksanterinkatu and Fredrikinkatu are the main shopping streets in Helsinki. You can find the best design stores if you take a walk at the Esplanadi, including Alvar Aaltos store, jewellery stores, cutting-edge furniture and accessory design stores, etc. If you take a trip in the Metro, a short ride from the city center will bring you to Itkeskus, the largest shopping center in Finland. Helsinki has its big name stores in the New Kamp Gallery, adjacent to the hotel of the same name. You can get handicrafts and souvenir good in Kisaleff Bazaar where you will find specialised items
of your choice. The revival of the old style of buildings in Helsinki dates back to the first half of the 19th century, and was built by a native of Berlin. He was the main architect and was responsible for St Petersburg's architecture. The square is bordered by buildings and includes the white-domed Tuomiokirkko, a Lutheran cathedral, consecrated in 1852, the Government Palace and the University Library. In the centre of the square stands a statue of Tsar Alexander II, cast in 1894. Located along Mannerheimintie in Helsinki, Kiasma, which was built during 19931998, is a contemporary art museum. When you visit the museum, you will find a display of contemporary art collection of the Finnish National Gallery, which was founded in 1990. Kiasma was designed by an American architect Steven Holl, who was selected from the 516 participants of a An architectural design competition, held to design a contemporary arts museum in Helsinki. Mobile telephony has become a part of every ones life these days. Where-ever we go we have our cell phone with us. When you visit Finland you would be taking your cell phone with you. You have been on such visits in your past, even during the time when mobile telephony was not there. How did you communicate on phone at that time? You had used the telephone in your hotel room to be in touch with your associates and your friends, abroad and locally and also with your family back home. You had no other option, but to use the telephone in your hotel room. The bill that you paid for your calls was exorbitant and way out of your budget that you had set for the purpose. When mobile telephony was commercially made available, you had taken your phone on roaming, when you visited abroad. You had paid for your outgoing and incoming calls more than usual, since you were on roaming. In providing you with the roaming facility, your service provider has entered into a service agreement with the concerned service provider of the country that you are visiting. This is a contract which stipulates some financial aspects also. Very briefly, your service provider would need to pay the provider of the country that you are in, each time you make or receive a call. Therefore, the calls that you make and receive are charged more than usual when you are using your phone somewhere abroad and you are on roaming. All the charges reflect on your bill which you receive at the end of the month. Taking your cell phone on roaming is expensive, may be more than your calls from your hotel room. A pre-paid SIM card for Finland saves you up to 80% of your phone call expenses. You get a local Finland number and you pay for your calls as the Finns do. All your incoming calls are free of charge, no matter where they generate from. You do not pay for roaming and you do not have to enter into any contract what-so-ever. You do not receive any bill at the end of the month. When you buy a pre-paid SIM card for Finland, you get a small talk time credit along with it, so that you can start making and receiving calls. As you finish your credit, you may replenish it by buying recharge coupons, which are available in practically any shop in cities of Finland. These vouchers are available in many denominations and you may choose the value of the talk time credit that you would want. Since you pre-pay for your calls, you remain aware of the expenses that you are incurring for the calls that you are making. For more information on pre-paid SIM card for Finland, visit www.planetomni.com/FAQ_sim.shtml A Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card is of a size little smaller than a postage stamp and is the intelligent module in your cell phone, which lets you make and receive calls and provides you with other mobile facilities. It is a printed board circuit, consisting of a microprocessor and memory. The SIM card holds unique information about you and your phone, like, your SIM card number, your subscription information, the International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) of your mobile phone and other security details. When you switch on your phone, the information is transmitted to the nearest tower in the city that you are in. The network validates the information, completes the security checks and then logs you in. You are now ready to use your pre-paid SIM card for Finland and you can make or receive calls. The SIM card also holds your address book, where you keep the names of the people and their telephone numbers, who you call frequently. It also logs the incoming and outgoing calls and also the ones that you fail to answer. These numbers are logged by the SIM card along with the respective call time and dates. For your visit to Finland, you would need a GSM cell phone, since the Networks in Finland operate on GSM frequency bands. If you have a GSM cell phone, it is highly unlikely that it would work in Finland, because North America, Canada and few other neighbouring countries work entirely on different frequency bands. These bandwidths are - 850MHZ and 1900MHZ frequency bands as compared to Finland which uses 900MHz and 1800MHz bandwidth. The world over, use different GSM frequency bands compared to the ones used in North America, Canada and few of the neighbouring countries, and in effect this what sets a part these countries from the rest of the world. Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) is the first open architecture digital second generation (2G) mobile telephony technology, replacing the old first generation (1G) system. It was first developed in Europe and is now used over 214 countries with 80% subscribers amongst the mobile users in the world. GSM has four set of frequency bands - 850 MHz, 900 MHz, and 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz which are distributed to different regions using GSM technology. Some of these bandwidths are commonly used by some of the countries. Cell phones are available in multi-frequency bands. The Quad-band is compatible with all the GSM bandwidths and can operate in any part of the world, in countries operating on GSM network. The Tri-band operates on 800MHz, 900MHz and 1800MHz frequency bands and is compatible with most of the GSM regions. The Dual-band responds to two frequency bands - 800MHz and 1900 MHz. The GSM phone that you are taking along with your pre-paid SIM card for Finland, needs to be SIM unlocked, as otherwise you will not be able to operate your cell phone with the pre-paid SIM card or any other SIM card for that matter. A SIM locked phone is only meant for a particular SIM card and it would work only with that SIM card and none else. Just to site an example, suppose you sign a contract with your service provider and that contract has a clause which stipulates that you should be using the service for a definite period of time, which is usually one year. After you have completed the formalities, you would receive a cell phone, absolutely free of cost to you, and the SIM card. This cell phone is SIM locked. It is done so by the service provider, ensuring that you do not use the phone with any other SIM card till you have completed your contract period. After your contract period is over, your service provider helps you to unlock the cell phone, after which you can use your pre-paid SIM card for Finland or any other SIM card of your choice. Therefore, when you visit Finland, you need to ensure two things. One that you have a compatible GSM phone to operate in the country and, two, that your phone is not SIM locked. If you are a frequent traveller abroad, visiting many countries, you would be better off in buying a cell phone which is bandwidth-wise compatible to the ones that you usually visit. If you do not travel frequently, it is economical for you to rent such a phone. A pre-paid SIM card for Finland is not only affordable but a great savings too. With all your outgoing calls being charged at the local rate and with no charges for incoming calls, your savings can go up to 80% of the expenses that you would have incurred otherwise. Further you do not pay any roaming charges. Since you pre-pay for your calls, you can keep a track of the expenditure which helps you to remain within the budget that you have set for the purpose.
# 800-514-2984 For more information on buying a pre-paid SIM card for Estonia, visit http://www.planetomni.com/FAQ_sim.shtml Article Source: http://EzineArticles.com/?expert=John_Dulaney http://EzineArticles.com/?Pre-paid-SIM-Card-for-Finland&id=379002 tramadol 50mg free prescription usa

How To Do Cross-stitch - Top Ten Beginners' Mistakes

By Louise Dop Cross-stitch is a wonderful, rewarding hobby that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities. Avoid these common beginners' mistakes and soon you will be creating stunning pieces of cross-stitch work to treasure. 1. Choosing the wrong pattern With the extensive range of charts on offer it is often tempting to start with something too complicated. For your first cross stitch project choose a chart with a relatively small design area and no more than 3 or 4 worked colours. You will have the satisfaction of completing it relatively quickly and can soon progress to something more challenging. 2. Tangling your threads Theres nothing more stressful than tangled threads so always keep them organised. When starting a project, punch a line of holes in a piece of card and loosely tie each coloured skein through a separate hole. Label each hole with the appropriate thread reference number and chart symbol. 3. Not finishing your edges Some even weave fabrics and linens fray easily. Before you start stitching, prepare your fabric properly by loosely back stitching around the edges with cotton. 4. Loosing your place on the chart For a large piece of work it is sometimes hard to keep your place on the chart. Before you start work, divide your chart into a grid of workable areas and mark with a coloured pencil. Stitch a corresponding grid onto your fabric using brightly coloured cotton. Sew loosely so that the cotton can be removed easily on completion of the project. 5. Stitching too tightly Keep your stitches evenly tensioned or your fabric will buckle or stretch out of shape. Many cross-stitchers find that a hoop helps to keep the fabric taut as they work. 6. Not starting in the middle The centre of a chart is clearly marked. You should always start stitching from this point and work outwards to the edges of your design otherwise your fabric will pull out of shape. 7. Leaving the needle in your work Always remove the needle when you finish sewing to avoid rust marks staining your fabric. 8. Getting your work dirty Grubby work looks unattractive. Wash your hands before you stitch and store ongoing work in a sealed bag or container. Finished pieces can be washed by hand with a gentle detergent. Dry by rolling in a towel - never wring fabric. 9. Starting with a knot Knots should never be used to start off a new thread. Instead, leave a 10mm length of thread at the back of your work. Hold it against the fabric as you work your next stitches and it will eventually be kept in place by the new stitches. Trim off any excess thread. 10. Straining your eyes It is very important to avoid eye strain by working in a well lit room. During daylight hours, work by a window where possible. Consider buying a halogen lamp for stitching in the evenings. If your eyesight is really poor, you might need to invest in a magnifier to place in front of your work.
